The Bid Resource Division has recently grown to meet increasing demand from companies looking for support with their bid recruitment process. Whether finding high-quality permanent Bid Writer candidates for new and repeat clients or sourcing suitable specialists from our talent pool of skilled bid professionals for freelance bid management roles, the Bid Resource team has continued to grow and evolve; signalling exciting possibilities for the future.
Led by Resource Manager Mark Mayall, who has over 20 years’ experience in recruitment, the team take the time to fully understand the requirements of both new and repeat clients, ensuring that only candidates with the necessary specialist knowledge and skills are sourced.
The Bid Resource Division has access to a unique talent pool of experienced bid experts, looking for both temporary and permanent bid roles in the public and private sectors. These range from Bid Writers, Bid Managers and Bid Directors through to Bid Coordinators, Technical Writers and Graphic Designers.

Recruitment of permanent bid professionals
When recruiting for such a vital role, such as a permanent Bid Director, Bid Manager or Bid Writer, it is essential that you work with a specialist tender agency who knows the market inside and out.
The recruitment of these permanent bid roles is an increasingly difficult job for many HR teams due to its specialist nature, which is why many choose to outsource the recruitment of their bid staff to the Thornton & Lowe Bid Resource division.
Interim Bid Writers
We have been providing outsourced bid writing since 2009. During this time, we have worked across hundreds of different business sectors, supporting our clients to write tenders and win contracts.
As a result, we have developed a bank of freelance bid writers, which we supply via our bid specialist recruitment team.
This interim bid writing support allows our clients to increase bid capacity at peak times while bringing in new experience and skills to their team.
As a bid writing consultancy, we appreciate how different sectors may have different demands and expectations on their temporary bid writers. Facilities Management, for example, may expect their Bid Writer to be familiar with a higher volume of bids compared to a Bid Writer who has largely supported complex infrastructure bids.

Interim Bid Managers
As with Bid Writers, we find that the role of a Bid Manager does vary across both sector and organisation. Within professional services and consultancy, for example, the role can include marketing which is often a very different requirement to a nuclear-specific interim Bid Manager.
A temporary Bid Manager or a freelance Bid Consultant will often be required to cover essential leave, to support a ‘must win’ larger tender, or required several times each year to support peaks in opportunities due to budget cycles.
